Chemistry.com Free Weekend
August 2013: The current Chemistry.com free weekend begins August 16thand runs until August 18th, 2013. The events begin at 12:01AM on Friday morning and end at 11:59PM on Sunday night. All Chemistry.com users will be able to communicate with their matches throughout this entire event. If you’ve never tried Chemistry, these free events are always a great time since, in addition to getting to try the service out, the number of people using the service should increase.
Sign up at Chemistry.com to try the Free Weekend
This is the fourth time in 2013 where Chemistry has offered a free weekend.
In the past for the Chemistry.com free weekends, the service has been made entirely free (and there’s no reason to believe this would stop). This is important because some free events only allow you to use so much of the service. With Chemistry, you are provided the opportunity to use the all the service which means you’ll the have opportunity to schedule some first dates. It would take some work and some luck, but finding a date for the 14th isn’t out of the question with a free event of this type.
Why I Love the Chemistry.com Free Weekends
There is one other service that also gives frequent free weekends and that is eHarmony. Lately, eHarmony seems to have a hard time making up their mind what is exactly free on the free weekends: sometimes you can do everything in the communication process, other times you can only go so far.
The great thing about the Chemistry.com free weekends is that they are really (really!) free. The entire communication process works from beginning to end and features like viewing other singles photos (which eHarmony disables in their free weekends) works as expected. It truly is a weekend to experience the full service. I like eHarmony a lot but I do wish they would follow Chemistry.com’s lead here.

Once again Chemistry.com is having a free communication weekend. This free weekend event starts this Friday December 2nd and runs until Sunday, December 4th 2011. This event will start at 12:01AM on the 2nd and will end at 11:59PM on the 4th (in other words, you get all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday with this free event).
The last Chemistry free weekend was in October and through-out this year Chemistry has proven to be more reliable than other dating services for these free events. That said, even Chemistry.com is having these free event far less often than they did in 2010…so I’m not sure if the free weekends are falling out of favor or if something else is going on.

October 8 – 10 2010
Chemistry.com is having a free weekend, this Friday the 8th to Sunday the 10th, October 2010. If you’ve never tried Chemistry and want to try it out for the free weekend, I’d recommend signing up early so you can collect a few days of matches before the free weekend officially begins.
If you’ve tried Chemistry in the past don’t forget to turn your matching back on if it is currently off!
As far as free weekends go, Chemistry.com is one of the better services as far as what they offer. Some other services that offer free weekends have been getting more and more restrictive with you what you can do on their free events. Chemistry.com on the other hand generally allow use of most of the service throughout their free events.
If you’ll be trying the service for the first time, just be ready for the sign-up process which can take between 30 minutes and an hour. If you are able to sign up ahead of time, one benefit is identifying who you would like to contact and then start your communication with them early on the day on Friday. This way, if you work during the day you may already have a communication with a few singles started by the time you get home. This may seem like over-thinking things but the free weekends go by quicker than you might think.
August 20 – 22 2010
Chemistry.com is having their next free communication weekend starting Friday, August 20 and running until Sunday, August 22 2010.
When some other services have free events, they limit how you can use their service during the free event. Chemistry.com on the other hand entirely opens up their service: any functionality a paying member can use, you should be able to use also during this free weekend.
If you’re brand-new to online dating or if you are unfamiliar with Chemistry.com, I would recommend you read my review of Chemistry.com. This should help you get started so you spend less time figuring out how to use Chemistry.com and more time communicating with other singles.
Signing Up Early
As I always suggest with these free events, better to sign up early rather than later. This is because no matter how early you sign up, you can always take advantage of the free weekends. If you wait until Friday to sign up, you’ll find that you have to go through the sign-up process which can take an hour before you can even see your matches. I know that may not seem like much time but the free weekends to go by quickly and I feel it’s best to give yourself every benefit you can.
By signing up early, you can identify the singles you want to communicate with before Friday arrives. Then when the free event begins, you can quickly send out your communication. Also, the free events generally begin at 12:01 AM local time (so regardless of what time zone you are in, it should start shortly after midnight on Friday morning). Because of this, I also recommend trying to get some communication out on Friday morning. If you’re like me, you have to work during the day and would end up missing out on the first 16 hours of the free event if you waited until he got home in the evening. If you shoot off a few communication requests before you head out to work on Friday morning, you’re already ahead of the game.
July 23 – 25 2010
Chemistry.com is having a free communication weekend starting Friday, July 23 and running until Sunday, July 25, 2010. It is going to be a busy weekend for free events! This is because in addition to this free weekend at chemistry, eHarmony is also having a free communication event starting this Friday.
While free events are always a good thing, this weekend offers some particular value because of both of these free weekends. A common question is, “What is the difference between chemistry and eHarmony?” or, “Which of the two services is better?”
Decide For Yourself…
This weekend you have an opportunity to decide for yourself! You will be able to compare the two services side by side and decide for yourself: which service is easier to use, which one provides better matches, and so on. Regardless of which service you prefer, the great thing about all this is you get to answer those questions for free.
With that being said, a warning: both of these services have a extensive sign up process and if you plan on signing up for both of them on the same evening I would set aside an hour (and perhaps a touch longer). As I always recommend on these free events, better to sign up earlier rather than later. Allow yourself some time taking the latest matches and review them so when it comes time to use the free service, you’ll know who you want to contact right away.
Best of luck to all of the singles this weekend!
Chemistry.com Free Communication Weekend – June 11th to 13th 2010
Chemistry.com is having another free weekend this June.
Chemistry.com is having this free communication weekend from Friday June 11th until Sunday June 13th. During this free weekend you will be able to communicate with all of your matches absolutely free. No credit card or other type of payment is required: just create your free account and when the weekend arives you’ll be able to talk with all of your matches.
Hopefully you are reading this before the weekend begins. If you are here is my recommendation: if you don’t have an account yet, create your free profile before the weekend begin. Why do this? It will help you be prepared for when the free weekend arrives. You’ll already have matches waiting on you and you won’t have to spend time on Friday creating your profile and then waiting for matches.
I actually recommend that those who are interested in trying Chemistry.com create an account early rather than later. This way when Chemistry has a free weekend (which is normally once a month) you’ll already be prepared: you should be accustomed to the service and you should have identified some singles you would like to contact. Once you have a free account, you can take advantage of each free weekend as they roll around. However, if you sign up at the last minute on a free weekend, you’ll actually be missing out on some free time (until the next free weekend rolls around, anyway).
How Chemistry.com Works
If you are not familiar with Chemistry.com, it works very similar to eHarmony. The service basically involves the following steps:
- Create your account which requires you to create a personality profile (this can take quite a bit of time)
- Once your profile is created, your personality profile will be used to provide you people you match well with
- You can then begin the communication process with these singles (or respond to the singles who start a conversation with you)
The service concentrates on quality over quantity although many suggest that Chemistry.com is far less strict than eHarmony with the matches it provides you. In my opinion, a service like Chemistry.com is especially good for those brand new (and not necessarily comfortable) with online dating. This is because Chemistry.com helps walk singles through each step of the process.
For anyone signing up for Chemistry.com to try the free weekend, I wish you the best of luck!
Apr 30 – May 2, 2010
This coming weekend is another free weekend at Chemistry.com. This free event will run from 12:01AM on Friday April 30th to Sunday May 2nd at 11:59PM.
As I normally recommend for these free weekends, if you don’t have an account at Chemistry I would recommend creating an one before the free weekend begins. This way, on Friday morning when the free event has officially begun you can immediately contact any matches you’ve been given. Three days free isn’t all that long so you should use your time as completely as possible.
Also, it may go without saying but anyone who has already signed up at the site in the past will be able to use the service for free during this time. If you fall into this category you should log in ahead of time to identify who you plan to contact (again so you can use your free time as much as possible).
Chemistry Free Communication Weekend, March 26th – 28th 2010
It looks like it is time for another Chemistry free communication weekend. This time it will be running from Friday, March 26th to Sunday March 28th. Everyone with a user account at Chemistry.com will be able to communicate the entire weekend for free. This is generally a great time to sign up and not just because it’s free: other people will be signing up in large numbers from now to this weekend as well and more people means there will be more opportunities!
As I’ve pointed out in the past, sites like Chemistry.com and eHarmony have a much slower communication process than many other dating websites so it’s a good idea to start communicating as early as you can. These free weekends are not the time to be hesitant as the weekend will be gone before you know it. I would recommend signing up early and finding the people you want to communicate with by Thursday evening. Then on Friday, contact all of these people as early as you can. Don’t just contact one! Contact every person you’re interested in: you don’t know who will reply and who won’t so don’t take a chance. With this approach, you’ll get things going as early as possible which will hopefully give you some extra time to get a few first dates scheduled. Obviously these rules apply to anyone who already has an account at the site as well.
If this promotion works as it has in the past, the free weekend should begin at 12:01AM local time on Friday the 26th and will end at 11:59PM on Sunday the 28th. Good luck to all the singles out there!
February 2010
Chemistry is having another free communication weekend, this weekend Friday February 5th through Sunday February 7th. I apologize for being really late on this one but between finding out late, a huge snowstorm and no internet access this is the earliest I was able to get this out. Still, if you’ve signed up in the past you could log into your account for the rest of the weekend if this is the first you’re hearing about it.
You can also read about the full list of free dating service events I’ve discussed.
December 2009
Chemistry.com is having its last Free Communication Weekend for the year 2009 later this week. The free weekend will run from December 4th, 2009 through December 6th, 2009.
For those not familiar with it, Chemistry.com is a service similar to eHarmony in that they provide you matches based on your personality. Your personality is determined by taking a lengthy test and it’s free to take this test and create your profile. Not surprisingly, you have to pay to do anything beyond this…except on the free communication weekends. On these weekends you can use the service to the full extent. Chemistry.com does differ from eHarmony in several ways, most notably the fact that the service is in many ways more accepting than eHarmony. eHarmony is known to reject applicants for reasons such as a history of divorce or if you answer the questions in such a way that they consider you “unmatchable”. Chemistry.com does not seem to have these restrictions (or if they do I’ve never heard of it). I’ve always felt that Chemistry’s marketing has been targeted towards a younger audience as well but that’s just an impression I get.
For those who decide to give Chemistry.com a try this weekend, I wish you luck!
Another Free Weekend at Chemistry.com, October 2009
Just a quick line to let you know that Chemistry is having another free weekend this coming weekend. This is the second time in a month Chemistry is having a free weekend (see my comments on regarding that one at Chemistry.com Free Weekend, September 2009).
While I can’t promise this frequency of free weekends will continue, at this rate it would be well worth having an account even if you only plan to use the service every fourth weekend!
Remember: Chemistry.com free weekends start on Friday and end on Sunday so the free weekend begins today.
Want to try it out? You can sign up here for the free weekend at Chemistry.com.
Chemistry.com Free Weekend, September 2009
Following quickly on the heels of the eHarmony free weekend, Chemistry.com is offering a free communication weekend beginning this Friday the 18th through Sunday the 20th. As my readers know, I used eHarmony when I was dating online and Chemistry is a similar service.
Because I had already met my to-be-wife by the time Chemistry came onto the scene in 2006, I’d never used this service. So I decided to try out their personality test over the weekend and it was actually pretty fun. In some ways, it’s what I remember from eHarmony’s personality test but there are some areas where it felt a bit more fun. Some of the questions were very dynamic and required things like determining which smiles were genuine and puzzles where you determine which shapes match in size. When you’re done with the personality test, you’re assigned major and minor personality type which can be Builder, Explorer, Negotiator and Director (each of these are described when you’re finished so don’t worry if this doesn’t make sense right now). I was a Builder/developer or B/d. The test then explains what all your results mean and it shows which personality types you are most likely to mesh well with. For example, as a B/d I best match with other Builders and then Explorers. The results also include descriptions of what you like and how you act and this is sometimes scary in its accuracy.
My Profile Results
As with my advice for the eHarmony free weekend, I believe signing up for the service is a good idea even if you happen to be reading this after the free weekend has passed. The way these services work is they assign you matches over time. If you sign up ahead of time, the next time a free weekend rolls around you should have more matches to choose from. Plus, the free profile test is fun and it’s interesting to see how taking a 20-minute test can allow them to identify the type of person you are.
If you’ve been on the fence about online dating or if you’re just not sure if you’re current service is cutting it, you might want to give Chemistry’s free weekend a try. The service looks very polished to me with a very structured system for meeting people (a big plus if you’re new to online dating).
