Two Free Events for the Weekend: August 16th, 2013
Published on August 16, 2013
This weekend there are two free events happening: one for eHarmony and another for Chemistry.com.
The eHarmony event runs from Thursday, August 15th and ends at the end of the day on August 18th. eHarmony has been providing a LOT of free time in 2013. There have been at least 10 free weekends/events this year that I’m aware of (one every month and some months with two events). The frequency is very good for those of us who want to test the service out: if you sign up once, you’ll get email alerts about each of the events and can utilize each of them. The one drawback to the eHarmony free weekends is that there are some limitations on some of the features, however, I still feel the free weekends give you a good feel for if the service would work for you.
The Chemistry.com weekend runs from Friday, August 16th and ends at the end of the day on Sunday, August 18th. Chemistry has not been having nearly the number of free weekends as eHarmony and this is only the fourth one that I am aware of for 2013. Having said that, Chemistry normally puts no limitations on their service when they have a free weekend: if there’s a feature, you can use it.
Should I Only Try One of the Free Weekends?
For me, it took a long time to gain comfort with the idea of even trying one dating service. I was worried what people would think of me early on so even trying a free weekend was something I wasn’t comfortable with. Later, when I finally did start using a dating service, I resisted trying a second at the same time because, again, I was worried what people might think of me. I always thought to myself, “What if someone uses both services and see me on each of them? Will they think I’m desperate?”
I’m not sure if other people struggle with this thought but I would encourage you not to worry about this. Eventually I got over these concerns and had a lot more success when I made decisions based on what I thought would work well, not based on what other people might think of me.
I only mention all that because if you would like to try both weekends but worry how others might interpret that, I’d encourage you not to worry about that type of thing. First, online dating is gaining more and more acceptance every day so I don’t see this nearly to be the issue it once was. And second, as I said, I found the more I worried about what other people might think, the less success I had. And once I started dating with less concern for what people might think, my success went way up.
