The Internet Dating Guide
Published on October 11, 2007
Earlier this year, I was trying to determine if there was any use for a blog like this. If the web was saturated with every other person’s opinion on how online dating is best approached, I’d skip it. Specifically, I was searching for dating sites that provided a significant amount of advice. Most of the dating sites I found were fine but I disagreed with how some of them recommended a person find dating success. It’s not that I think their suggestions would not work, I just did not feel the end validated the means. Other sites sounded almost as if they were working for the online dating services: every review was full of blurbs on how “such-and-such a dating service would change your life forever and ever!!!”. Not that there is anything wrong with throwing in with your favorite dating service or site but after a few dozen gleaming reviews, it starts to become suspect. Eventually, I decided that while I was to be a little fish in a big pond, I still had value to offer and went ahead with this blog.
One of the sites I did like was TheInternetDatingGuide.com. I liked this site because it has useful information if you are willing to dig. The information seemed honest and, unlike many other sites, this dating site didn’t hit me over the head with the advertisement hammer. Unfortunately, it appears that the site may not be updated often. When I checked the site recently, every article felt very familiar from when I read it a year ago, so the re-visit value here may not be too high. One other thing I noticed is that some of the navigation seems to go no where or, more specifically, to a default “rants” page. While I don’t believe this site is going to change your life, I still feel it has good information to offer. If nothing else, the statistics listed on the main page would make for good first date talk.
